' (1) The installation cf monitoring wells M-12 and M-13 have confirmed that the
' ground water gradient follows the general topography and is from the east-
, northeast to west-southwest.
' (2) The average ground water gradient below the tailings facility is 0:05 ft/ft and the
average hydraulic conductivity of these materials is 0.2 fUday.
1
' (3) The average ground water seepage velocity is estimated to be 0.04 fUday (14.6
fUyr). At this seepage velocity, it would take a particle of water approximately _%
' 110 years to move from the tailings facility to Battle Mountain's downgradient
boundary.
' (4) The underflow in the uppermost water-bearing strata of the Santa Fe Formation
' through the flow window that could potentially be impacted by the tailings facility
is 2.1 gpm.

(5} The beds of the Santa Fe Formation are not easily correlatable between boreholes;
' however, it is inferred through outcrops of the Santa Fe Formation that these beds
may be dipping at approximately 20 degrees to the northwest.
1
(6) Sustained pumping rates at these monitoring wells are extremely low, in the range
' of 0.5 to 2.5 gpm.
(7) Water quality sampling during the pumping tests at each of the manitoring wells
indicates no detectable concentrations of WAD or total cyanide at any of the
' wells.
($) The three existing monitoring wells can provide adequate monitoring down-
gradient of the tailings facility and collection pond. if rernediation does become
' necessary in the future due to cyanide concentrations in the three existing
' -9-
1
