The alluvial fan materials consist of a very coarse fraction of
basalt cobbles and large boulders up to 10 feet in size with a
clay/silt matrix. A visual examination of materials excavated
from the existing Western Slope Flagstone Quarry No. 2 suggests
the grading is approximately 50 percent silt, clay, and sand,
and 50 percent gravel, cobbles, and boulders. This grading
is only an estimation; screening of several large samples would
be required to more accurately determine gradings. The visual
examination also suggests that the sand and gravel sizes are not
present in large percentages as the fine sizes and very coarse
sizes seem to dominate.
Prepared by:
BARNES GEOLOGIC CONSIILTING, INC.
Joe G. Barnes, President
Engineering Geologist
`' ~ 8C11 -`+
A[PG
' ~~.
4
