Letter to John Rozelle
1/14/2003
PROCEDURE
The stability analyses were performed usitig the simplified Bishop's Method (SLOPE/W
software). The minimum safety factor and extent of failure for the designed slope were analyzed.
Additionally, a safety factor sensitivity matrix was computed to illustrate the effects of alternate
estimates of angles of internal friction and cohesion.
CONCLUSION
Based on these analyses and the information available, the Suttle Ditch will not be compromised
by slope failure when constructed according to the configurations and material properties showri
in Figure A3. The overall minimum safety factor for the slope is estimated at 1.4.
Should you have questions regarding this report or wish further discussion, please call. Greystone
appreciates E(~jptapgp~nity to be of service to Lafarge West, Inc.
K. M.
Enc: 5 copies Figure A-3
Suttle Ditch Slope Stability
Minimum Safety Factor
