This exchange was approved by DMG. This project, designed to send
mine waters from 5-shaft to the water treatment system on the Tenmtle side of the divide, would
construct a water pipeline and a sluge system from the shaft to a new discharge vault near the
main gate. The 5-shaft pump Station is considered an environmental protection facility (EPF)
under the Climax Environmental Protection Plan (draft, 1995). As such, the Storlce water return
system is a modification to this existing EPl?.
The construction drawings for the Storlce water return system were submitted to DMG in a letter
dated July 24, 2003, The project was underway during your site inspection September 8, 2003.
Presently, the project is operationally complete and the pipeline has been inspected, tested, and
certified. The certification letter from W.W. Wheeler'and Associates, Inc, is attached as required
by the Rules. A copy of. the final project report including as-bunts and all testing data will be
submitted when available before years end.
As you are awaze, this pipeline is an integral component of Climax's coxnplex water
management and treatment system, As such, it is critical to system operations tbat ft be placed
into operation on or about November 20, 2003. A fax of this letter and attachment is being sort
on this date. We will be in telephone contact with your office prior to your receipt of this letter
to resolve any potential issues pertaining to this operational date.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 719.4862150, ext. 723.
Sincezely,
ry Rom1g,
Environmental M
Climax Molybde Company, Climax Mine
