2) Safety on the local roads continues to be a concern (i.e., school children
walking to and from bus stops, people riding horses, visitors to the public
lands and camping facilities on County Road 6). Also, debris that might fall
from the trucks.
3) There is also a concern that toxins (i.e., PCBs, Used Oil, etc.) have been
buried on the site, either legally or illegally. We would like to see some
action taken to identify the azeas where this has occurred and have them
remediated before they can affect our health, ground/well water, or the
environment.
Our intent is not to prevent Holcim from reopening the mine, but to ensure that the
operations minimize the effect on our community and the environment and that the
maximum protection of our neighborhood can be enforced by the State. Your eazliest
attention to this matter will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
1~~'/ -
D5ry1(Kent) Aman
ii~2~
K en (Kris) Shurr
13364 CR 45
PO Box 273
Coaldale, CO 81222-0273
719-207-0384 or719-207-1019
email: hchome@co-isp.com
cc: Holcim (US) Inc
Ken Kester, CO Senate
Tom Massey, CO House
