Your efforts have been a
tremendous help as I work on behalf of nearby residents to better understand your plank for
the UI,A Pit Mine expansion. Visiting the site and baying the opportunity to ask clarifying
questions have significantly reduced the concerns I raised in my July 28, 20041etter to the
State Division of Mines and Geology (DML).
ASer discussing this matter with those I am representing, tbere is general agreement we
would like to resolve it as soon as possible and not have to present any objections to the
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board later in September. To ttus end and as I
discussed with Toe Gaghiena yesterday afternoon, I would like to recommend that we agree
to the following clarifications to be included in the permit conditions issued by the State
DML:
Clerit8cation 1: The maximum depth of the mine will be 45 feet.
