DIVISION 1 -GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br />SECTION 01300 -SUBMITTALS <br />1.01 GENERAL <br />A. Contractor shall famish, process, deliver, reproduce and perform other necessary <br />functions incidental fo scheduling and handling of shop drawings, project data and <br />samples, operation and maintenance manuals, equipment record sheet, manufacturer's <br />certificate of proper installation, and record drawings, as indicated on Drawings or as <br />specified, and in accordance with provisions of the Contract Documents. <br />B. See appropriate Specifications and Contract Document sections for specific items for <br />which data and/or samples are required. See Genera] Conditions for additional <br />information. <br />C. Review or acceptance of substitutions, schedules, shop drawings, lists of materials, and <br />procedures submitted or requested by the Contractor, and all additional costs which may <br />result therefrom shall be solely the obligation of the Contractor. It shall not be the <br />responsibility of the Engineer to provide engineering or other services to protect the <br />Contractor from additional costs accruing from such review or acceptance. <br />D. No equipment or material for which listings, drawings, or descriptive material is required <br />shall be installed until the Engineer has on hand copies of such accepted lists and the <br />appropriately stamped final shop drawings. <br />E. The review of drawings by the Engineer will be limited to genera] design requirements <br />only, and shall in no way relieve the Contractor from responsibility for errors or <br />omissions contained therein. <br />F. Submittals will be acted upon by the Engineer as promptly as possible. <br />1.02 BACKFILL MATERIAL <br />A. Contractor shall famish a sample of the soil mixture he anticipates utilizing as backfill <br />material from a borrow source with proven capacity to backfill the entire trench. This <br />soil sample will be subjected to permeability testing after being mixed with bentonite <br />from the Contractor's supplier. This testing will determine the percent of dry bentonite <br />that will be mixed into the soil-bentonite backfill in order to achieve a permeability of <br />1x10-6 cm/s or less. Gradation and Atterberg Limits tests will be performed to establish <br />control on the backfill throughout the project. <br />B.
