The Colorado Division of Wildlife would suggest that a 50' buffer be placed around any large
cottonwood trees within the mined area to prevent root damage, which would impact the trees' health.
Also in the areas not conducive to irrigation, it would be a benefit to the wildlife if some type of shrub
species were added to the mix. The Division of Wildlife would recommend including sagebrush, antelope bitter
brush, four wing salt bush, or mountain mahogany into the mix.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sind GLC//~f-~__
Bil] de Vergie
Area Wildlife Manager
Montrose
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, Greg E.
