Even if the permit had not
expired, Mr. VanElla would be roquired to apply to Chaffee County for a Mining Permit for the
expanded area. Many of Chaffee County's requirements are consistent with the state's
regulations; however we do have some additional requirements, and therefore Object to
wnsidaration by DMG on this application until Mr. VanElla has applied for a County permit.
Further, we request that any approval granted on thle or any other mining permit application in
Chaffee County include a condition that Chaffee County lend Use approval be roceived prior to
beginning any operations ar issuance of the permit.
We appreciate your assistance in this matter. Please feel free to contact me at 719-530-5565 ff
you have any questions or require further information.
Sincerely,
-------------- ------- --------------
- -- -
Don Reimer
County Engineer and Plann)ng Director
cc: Kathy Leinz, County Co-Administrator
James VanElla, Applicant
