Ms. Erica Crosby Page3 of 3
Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety June 27, 2007
The eastern section of parcel 6 has not been mined in; however, there are topsoil
stockpiles and dredge piles covering this area.
We are requesting that all acreage within parcels 1 through 5 on the enclosed
key map is released from the Alpine Rock Permit (# M-1993-035). Parcels 1
through 3, owned by the Town of Breckenridge and Rock Island Land Company,
LLC, have never been actively mined, but are the location of historic dredge
piles. Parcel 4, owned by Holt Investments Family Limited Partnership, has never
been mined; however, areas within this parcel have been graded and developed.
Stan Miller Inc. graded this site at the request of the landowner for beneficial land
use as a snowmobile practice yard known as "Good Times" (see Attachment D).
Please see Attachment D: Holt Affidavit explaining this grading and site
improvement activity and authorizing the release of acres within the "Swan River
Resource" Reclamation Permit owned by Holt Investments Family Limited
Partnership.
Concerning parcel 5, a letter from the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
on April 16, 2007, it was noted that during the Division's inspection of the Swan
River site that Everist Materials, LLC holds and overlapping permit with Alpine
Rock. Parcel 5, owned by Rock Island Land Co., LLC, is currently being mined
by Everist Materials under Permit No. M-1998-052, known as the Mascot Placer.
The existence of a 112 permit overlaying and superceding the Alpine Rock
M-1993-035 permit indicates no need to retain reclamation liability under the
present permit.
Release Reouest
On behalf of Alpine Rock Co., the 190 acres are eligible for removal from the
permit boundary because, while there has been some development and mining
activity within the acreage being requested for release, none of this is associated
with Alpine Rock Co. or the M-1993-035 permit. Because of the lack of mining-
related disturbance and the overlapping permit, all applicable portions of the
Reclamation Plan requirements have been satisfied for the request release
acreage in accordance with the Construction Materials Rules and Regulations.
We request that apre-release inspection be scheduled as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Alex c
Project Manager
