I received a "heads up" from the CWCB floodplain section some time ago about the request that they determine whether .there are any flood hazards associated with developing the property. At that time, CWCB staff were concerned that they might be used by partisans on one side or the other and wanted to make sure that their activities were clearly understood to be limited to technical (not policy) advice. Since then, DMG has also been pulled into the controversy. Specifically, portions of the property are subject to a reclamation plan that has not yet been fully implemented. DMG has already received letters from local residents opposing any change in the reclamation plan that might be suggested to accommodate CU's development plans. It is my understanding that Larry Lang and DMG staff have consulted with one another and that both will be present at a meeting with Boulder County officials tomorrow. Loretta Pineda from DMG wants to make sure that we sustain good communications and coordination to avoid the potential of ending up with two divisions on opposite sides of the issue. I share her concern, particularly if we end up in a public forum which will certainly be the case if changes are proposed for the reclamation plan. I'll assume that CWCB and DMG are coordinating, but offer my assistance if you need it. Good luck!
