~~
CAMEO GRAVEL
EXHIBIT J
Vegetation Information
North Mine Area and Middle Mine Area affected areas were cleared for cultivation prior to the
sale of the Crawford Water rights to the Town of Palisade in the early 1900's.
The use of the affected areas for rangeland by cattle and wildlife has kept the property from
reverting to the native species of grasses, forbs ,trees and tall shrubs. Some low shrubs have
begun to invade the cleared areas from the undisturbed surrounding area. Native species of
brush and forbs consist of salt brush, bitter brush, shadscale, goldenrod and sage brush.
Several varities of cactus are present but are primarily the "prickly pear" type.
Native grasses established up to four (4) inches high in the cleared areas are Luna Pubescent,
Wheatgrass, Poloma Indian Ricegrass and Primar Slender Wheatgrass. Non-native grasses
are Blue grass and Cheat grass.
Because of the below average range condition, the estimated annual production for forage on
the sites is 1/4 ton (500 Ib.) per acre (See attached aerial photo).
