Dept. of Natural Re.;~, ~ -~.=
Dear Ms. Emrich:
Re: Temporary Sediment Control at the Middle Creek
Pit; Minor Revision to Permit C-036-81
As abatement action for NOV C-84-081, the Colorado Yampa Coal
Company has temporarily blocked off the drainage ditch adjacent to the
haulroad (see attached map and photograph) as of 3:00 P.M., May 17, 1984.
In order to complete abatement of the NOV, the Colorado Yampa Coal
Company is requesting approval to route drainage from the overburden
stockpile area into the sediment traps on the east aide of the haulroad
as presented on the attached map.
On May 27, 1984, Joe Oliver and Anne Baldrige of CMLRD conducted a
partial inspection of Energy Mine ~3. All required abatement procedures
have been completed and were shown to the inspector during the field
tour.
The ground conditions at Energy Mine i~3 are beginning to dry up and
very little surface runoff ie expected on the area during the summer
season. The sediment traps are adequate to treat any surface runoff that
might occur on the site.
• The change in drainage will be a temporary measure to facilitate the
backfilling of the Middle Creek pit. With the completion of rough
grading, the drainage will be routed to the Middle Creek detention basin
as presented in application $C-84-062.
