Y
V
Board Presentation
April 25, 1984
Albert Frei - tlalstrum Mine
File No. 83-83
Agenda Item 36
Both Mr. Frei and his consultant Steve O'Brian are in attendance.
A. Background -
1. The Walstrum Mine is a 117 acre aggregate mine,
2. Located north of Highway 6 in Clear Creek County where Highway 6
intersects I-70.
Inspection
1. An inspection was conducted on April 10, 1984 by Dave Shelton and
myself. We noted that mining activities were being conducted on the
south side of Highway 6. These activities included a fill into the
Clear Creek channel. During a subsequent inspection on April 18, 1984
Jim McArdle and Dave Shelton also noted another fill in the channel
approximately 1/4 mile downstream upon which a truck scale had been
constructed. Upon return to the office it was confirmed that these fill
activities were outside of the permitted area. The operator is here
today and confirms that mining activities were being conducted outside
of the permit area. He will be coming in with a technical revision to
include these areas within the permitted area.
C. Map
D. Photos
E. Inspection report
F. Recommendation
A Notice of Violation and Cease and Desist for those mining activities
outside of the permitted area should be issued. Also a formal hearing
date should be set for the next regularly scheduled Board meeting to
assess civil penalties.
