Tailings Box Deposition Study Results
The tailings box deposition study allows for measurements to be made of
the settlement characteristics of the tailings in an environment which allows
the development of a beach.
For this study, tailings were deposited into the box in a series of eight
lifts to study the beaching characteristics. Measurements of the height of each
lift were made at the time of deposition and prior to the addition of the next
lift. Density and saturated moisture content (~) were also measured. The data
for each lift is presented on the following pages.
Additional data presented here includes grain size analysis of the tailings
taken after tailings deposition was completed, the grain size analysis was done
on samples taken at three points, progressively further from the tailings
discharge point. As anticipated, the data shows grain size becoming finer with
distance from the discharge point.

•
