As soon as possible, the Operator shall drain the West Pit
Sediment Pond of all water that can be drained. Discharge
must meet the conditions of the Colorado Department of Health
(CDOH) NPDES Permit and conditions in the Mined Land
Reclamation Permit.
Immediately install visual slide monitoring points on the
topsoil slide area next to West Pit Pond and on the slope
previously excavated (stations 1+50 and 2+50). Slide
monitoring points shall be visually inspected by the Operator
on a daily basis (in order to document any movement of the
affected area), recorded and reported to the Division every
other day. In the event of substantial movement of the area,
the Division shall be notified immediately.
If the monitoring in step 2 above indicates the West Pit Pond
is in jeopardy, the Operator shall submit a Technical Revision
to the permit to prevent or minimize off site damage and
additional contributions of sediment outside the permit area.
c:\colowyo\950406
