Box 980
Carbondale, Colorado 81623
RE: NOV-C-85-037, Permit No. C-025-81
Dear Mr. Jones:
The Division has received your request for vacation of the above referenced
NOV. This request was discussed with Dave Shelton, the director of the
Division. During this discussion, several questions arose, as detailed below,
which need to be clarified before a decision on your request can be made.
1. Is the material on the outslope above the third bench topsoil? And
if so, what measures does Snowmass intend to take to insure it's
approved final placement on top of the non-toxic cover material?
2. Is the outslope above this third bench so constructed as to allow
for placement of the required four feet of non-toxic cover while
still allowing the 20' wide bench?
3. Why was the bench seeded prior to placement of the four feet of
non-toxic cover. What methods will be used to insure that the
existing organic material is not covered with the remaining
material required to create the 4' of non-toxic cover. The concern
is for stability of material placed over organics.
Your timely response to these concerns is requested in order to facilitate
processing of your request and final resolution of the concern.
Si rely,
andace M.
