Smith
Reclamation Specialist
Re: Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine
Permit No. C-84-065
Your letter of June 8, 1992
NOV C-92-009
Dear Shawn:
Telephone 303/337-3877
Fan 303/337-1989
June 23, 1992
~ECEIVEC~
UN 2 5 1992
Mined Land
Reclamation n~r~;~;on
It is respectfully requested that the time for the complete
abatement of NOV C-92-009 be extended until July 15, 1992.
As you know, I am in the process of moving our residence as well
as NCIG's office to New Castle. The organization of the move as
well as the procurement of a residence and office has taken much
more of my time than anticipated.
Further, the delivery of the signs are considerably longer than
before, since our "old" sign-,aker went out of business and the
new one takes longer.
Finally, the critical steps listed in your letter and NOV, in
particular the cleaning of the culvert and the posting of the
signs of the topsoil storage and pipeline corridor near the mine
entrance have been done.
The signs at the Lacy loadout as well as the entrance near Pond A
will be placed as soon as they are received form the sign maker.
with reference to point 1 of your June 8 letter. I realize that
I informed you during our telephone conversation that Pond A will
not be used during the regular operations of the mine. However,
"never" is an awfully strong word. While all designs are made to
use the water from the diversion point in the Colorado River near
the mine entrance (TR-7), this particular water right is rela-
tively junior. There could be an incident sometimes in the
future, during periods of great and long draughts, that we will
not be able to withdraw sufficient water from this point.
