~ Page 4 Dedember 14, 1998 b) Sulfates Monitoring efforts in M-11R have also recently reported an increase and a vidlation of Sulfate levels. The maximum permit condition value for Sulfate is 250 mg/L. The Sulfate levels violation has not been detected over as long period of tifne as the TDS violations have been. For the past few years, general trends of Sulfate levels in M-1(R have ranged below a level of 200 mg/L. In January of 1998, Division records indicate that Sulfate levels were 176 mg/L. On July 8`", BMRI collected a quartedy sample from M-11 R. At that time the `allulfate level was found to be 228.8 mg/L. While this value did not exceed permitted levels, it did indicate that levels were approaching maximum allowable levels.10 Lab results on October 2ntl, 1998 indicated a Sulfate level of 374.2 mg/L in (v1-11R, the first documented sulfate violation of permit condition from M-11 R." According to the N~vember TR-15 Response Plan, since October 2n° at least two additional Analytical reports form M-11 have detected violations of permit conditions. On October 5'" and October 27°1 respectively, Sul to levels were recorded at 371 and 396 mglL. Since October, we have not received any further lab results from M-11 R.
