Cottony <br />Division Director <br />VIA FACSIMILE AND U.S. MAIL Natural Resource Trustee <br />RE: /Adequacy Review <br />Las Animas County: Shannon Pit, Amendment Application AM-02, <br />Permit No. M-1979-163 <br />Dear Mr. Dorenkamp: <br />Listed below are adequacy review comments on the Shannon Pit Amendment Application AM- <br />02 to Permit Number M-1979-163. The Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) is required <br />to make an approval or denial decision no later than March 31, 2005, therefore, your response <br />to the following adequacy review concerns should be submitted to the Division as soon as <br />possible. <br />Rule 6.3.1 Exhibit A - Leoal Description and Location MaD <br />1. Please submit a revised general location map in order to adequately field locate the property <br />(e.g. how to find the site from Kim). The location map must identify "existing and proposed <br />roads or access routed to be used in connection with the mining operation" and show "all <br />immediately adjacent surface owners of record." <br />Rule 6.3.5 Exhibit E- MaD <br />2. Per Rule 6.2.1(2), General Requirements -Maps and Exhibits, all maps (other than the <br />location map) must show the name of the Applicant; must be prepared and signed by a <br />registered land surveyor, professional engineer, or other qualified person; give the date <br />prepared; identify and outline the area which corresponds to the application, and be <br />prepared with an appropriate scale (see paragraph (e)), and show a map scale, legend, title, <br />date prepared, and a north arrow. Please submit revised Mining Plan and Reclamation Plan <br />maps that incorporate these items. On these maps, please also tie the pit site location to a <br />known point, such as providing the distance and direction to a section corner. <br />3. Rule 6.3.5(3)(a) requires the applicant to submit a Reclamation Plan map that shows the <br />gradient of all reclaimed slopes sufficient to describe the post mine topography.
