Of t~ati~fel Aeaaurcb6
Re: Responses to MLRD Review of 1985 Annual
j~ydrolo~,y Report - Your File Number C-006-80
Dear Mr. Renner:
This letter is written to address your February 25, 1986
letter concerning your review of our 1985 Annual Hydrology Report
(Permit No. C-006-80).
First, I xould point out that the 1985 report is the most
comprehensive and conclusive report which has ever been prepared
for the Marr Mine. I found it interesting that it is also the
only annual hydrology report which has stimulated a review and
subsequent comment letter from the Colorado Mined Land Reclama-
tion Division. It is our firm conviction that all aspects of a
permit and its compliance measures should be dealt with in an
honest and straight-forward manner as our past record shows.
However, it is rather frustrating when, as we endeavor to be more
thorough and provide better reporting and evaluation of data, we
can expect to receive letters like yours of Februazy 25, 1986,
which identify concerns and demand remedial actions, responses
and deadlines for items that would otherwise have gone unnoticed.
We, nevertheless, plan to continue improving our reporting and
permit compliance efforts and trust that the same will, in the
future, stimulate a cooperative alliance between Kerr Coal
Company and the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division.
Your letter identified four specific concerns which are ad-
dressed in a "Comment-Response" format below:
1. Comment: Data
indicates that this well
between January 1981 and
the "720" pit, however,
pit have been observed.
the pit?
from overburden completion Well 79-2
has lost approximately 20 feet of head
March 1985.
