(Lafarge) has submitted a Rule 1.10 Amendment Application for its Shaw Pit
operation (D~fG M-2(101-094). This review is provided on behalf of the Godding Ditch Company.
the Smith R: );morons Ditch Company and the Rural Ditch Company (the Ditch Companies) and
relates to potential impacts due to mining on the stability and leakage of Idaho Creek, a conveyance
used in common by the Ditch Companies.
Oudine~ofAn~rndrd tlinrne Plnn Prnnosul
:1n original mining plan application called Cor the relocation of Idaho Creek to facilitate aggregate
removal. The amended plan proposes delaying the mining on parcels dependent on t}tc relocation of
Idaho Crcck until Lafarge and the Ditch Companies can come to an agreement on the rcyuircmcnts
of such a relocation. According to the amcttded application, Lafarge now intends to mine a portion
of the property but up to a setback of GO feet from Idaho Creek. Idaho Creek is used by the Ditch
Companies for carriage of irrigation water diverted from Boulder Creek near the southwest corner of
the mint property.
'Iltrec concerns arise over this proposal, I) the stability of the mined face and the need to reduce the
risk that a failure of that face could physically impact Idaho Creek, 2) the potential that dewatering
of the mine site could cause increased seepage from Idaho Creek, thus reducing the available water
for irrigation, and 3) maintenance of access to Idaho Creek for Ditch Company operations. Specific
comments regarding each of these concetvc follows.
