INTRODUCTION
~1
U
The Montgomery Pit, located approximately 1.5 miles west of Eagle, Colorado in Eagle County, received
its 112 permit in 1986 under pemut number M-1986-104. This amendment in May of 2003 addresses
permit boundary, mining plan, and reclamation plan changes. The boundary will be changed from the
original 46.08 acres to 36.57 acres for a total reduction of 9.51 acres. Most of this change occurs in the
removal of areas which were included in the original permit, but were undisturbed regions. Also a
deeded access road will be removed from the mining area. The mine plan changes will reflect the new
mining area as well as address the lack of staging as initially outlined in the original permit. The
reclamation change re-designates the future use in the flat areas as CommerciaUIndustriaUResidential.
Initially the land was to be returned to dry rangeland.
The new permit area for gravel mining with be 36.57 acres. The original area was dry rangeland. The
area will be reclaimed to commerciaUindustriaUresidential use. The remaining reserves will be mined
over 2 years starting in 2005. Though, the pit will become B & B's future headquarters with the pending
sale of their CalhounBaton pit located in Eagle. Once the reserves are played out in 2006, material will
be imported to supply the Asphalt and Cement plants on-site. The life of the operation is planned to
extend to 2015 with this date possibly being extended.
In 2001, all of B&B Excavating, Inc. assets were acquired by Oldcastle SW Group, Inc. The actual
permittee for this site has now been officially changed to Oldcastle S W Group, Inc. dba B&B Excavating,
Inc. Any references to B&B Excavating, Inc. in this permit should be taken to mean Oldcastle SW
Group, Inc. dba B&B Excavating, Inc.
Montgomery Pit 5/03 1
