05052
8.0 Reclamation Plan .
Banks and Gesso. LLC
Refer to Reclamation Plan Map and Cross Sections following this section.
Overview
The area will be reclaimed to rangeland use, which is consistent with surrounding land
uses. This area will also be reclaimed to maintain a suitable habitat for Sage Grouse.
Reclamation Process
Reclaimed slopes will be no steeper than 3H:1 V. Topsoil will be replaced upon the
completion of mining and amended as necessary to provide an acceptable growth
medium.
Topsoil Preservation
Topsoil stripped prior to mining will be stockpiled separately from overburden as
screening berms around the permit boundary, or within the pit area, and will be
preserved by a temporary seed mix until ready for placement on the surface.
Final Gradino
The reclaimed slopes will vary and be no steeper than 3H:1 V around the perimeter of
the mined area to present a more natural topography. Please refer to the attached cross
sections for final slopes.
Topsoil Replacement
Approximately four inches of topsoil will be replaced after mining has been completed.
Additional topsoil and/or amendments will be used as necessary to create an
appropriate growing medium.
Reveoetation
Topsoil stockpiles and other areas that require temporary stabilization will be seeded
using the NRCS-recommended seed mix described below in Table E-1. The disturbed
areas will be permanently re-seeded as suggested by the Colorado Division of Wildlife to
enhance grouse habitat, and as required by the State MLRB permit. Please see Table
E-2 below for the DOW-recommended permanent seed mix.
Maintenance
The topsoil will be amended and maintained following recommendations of the soil test.
Weed Control Plan
Noxious weeds will be controlled following the Colorado Noxious Weed Management Act
and Routt County Weed Department recommendations. Eight species are designated
for management by Routt County Weed Department and are listed below (not all of
which are found on the property):
• Leafy spurge (Euphorbia esula)
• Diffuse knapweed (Centaurea diffusa)
• Spotted knapweed (Centaurea macu/osa)
• Russian knapweed (Acroptilon repens)
• Whitetop
• Dalmatian toadflax, narrow- and broad-leaved (Linaria da/matica and genistifolia)
King Mountain Sand & Gravel Mine February 2006
King Mountain Gravel, LLC - Page 11
