This is a minimum recommendation. Additional quantities of organic material may be
beneficial. Viable organic materials could include peat, composts, or rotted manure.
Until vegetation is more permanently established on the 5.4 acres, the Division
believes additional erosion control measures, in addition to contour furrows, are
necessary. Adequately anchored mulches, bonded fiber matrixes, fiber blankets, soil
tackifiers, or netting, used alone or in combination, may provide the necessary erosion
control to allow interseeded vegetation to become established. Considering the size
of the site (5.4 acres), any soil stabilization treatment should be designed to last until
the second growing season after interseeding.
4. Please support the values used for cover (50%), cover factor (.07), and practice factor
(.80) in the sediment yield calculations. The Division anticipates that these values
were derived, in part, from information collected during the 1999 vegetation survey
and soil sampling.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sin ely,
z~c ~
K t A. Gorham
Environmental Protection Specialist
