~~
Monday, April 10, 2004
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street
Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
To whom it may concern,
~'RECElV~®
MAY 7 2 2004
Division of Minerals & GeoloBY
I am writing you this letter regazding the Mascot Placer in the Swan River Valley.
Everist Materials LLC, is requesting an application to convert an existing Construction
Material Limited Impact (110) Reclamation Permit to a regular (112) Reclamation Permit
with the Colorado Mined Reclamation Board, which will entail the operation of a
seasonal rock crushing operation. I want you to know, myself and many of my neighbors
aze opposed to this permit application being granted by the Division of Minerals and
Geology.
I have been a local yeaz round Summit County resident since 1991 and have certainly
seen the extraordinary evolution of development, growth and change in our county over
the yeazs. As you know we cannot stop change, but we can certainly manage the overall
impact it has on our community and quality of life for our citizens as well as our visitors.
The Division of Minerals and Geology has the opportunity to shape the Swan River
Valley's future in accordance with the Summit County Master Plan and Upper Blue
Master Plan. The rock crushing which will be associated with the (112) Reclamation
Permit is not in harmony with the nature of the Swan River Valley. This spectacular
valley affords local residents as well as visitors, the opportunity to enjoy a very special
lifestyle. A few of the year round activities in the valley include, hiking, mountain
biking, trail running, golf, fly fishing, access to National Forest and the Colorado Trail,
hunting, equestrian activities, snowmobiling, snow showing and cross-country skiing.
As a local homeowner raising a family in the Swan River Valley, I hope you see that a
rock crushing plant on the Mascot Placer with its heavy truck traffic, dust and noise does
not fit into the residential make up of the area as well as the outdoor lifestyle enjoyed by
al. the residents and visitors. You have the opportunity to help shape the character and
use of one of Summit County's most beautiful valleys.
Please deny Everist Materials, LLC application fora (112) Reclamation Permit.
Thank you for your consideration regarding this matter.
Si ely,
~~_
e oore
/iM - ~~- OS~
Pac_
C(TVV1
