Mr. Joe Carillo
-2-
r•
February 5, 1986
I should also make mention of the permit status of the Sarcillo Canyon Pit.
This operation was permitted as a 111 special permit due to an emergency need
for road repair materials (as documented by Mr. Kim Hainlen in a letter to our
Division dated July 22, 1983). As Linda Walker of our Division informed Mr.
Hainlen, this pit cannot be used as a long-term operation under such a 111
permit. It must be reapplied for as a limited impact 110 permit if long-term
mining is planned. If you are continuing to use this pit, I suggest you
request from us that it be repermitted, using the existing permit materials
(and supplying any changes to bring the plans up to date), and we can proceed
to process a 110 application for this site.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions
from you soon.
Sincerely,
Mark S.
