Long, <br />Division Diraclor <br />Mr. Andre' Douchane, General Manager <br />North American Operations <br />Battle Mountain Gold Company <br />5670 Greenwood Plaza Blvd., Suite 106 <br />Englewood, CO 80111 <br />RE: Approval of Technical Revision-007; Addition of Hydrogen <br />Peroxide to Tailings Ponds; Battle Mountain Gold Company; San <br />Luis Project; Permit No. M-88-112. <br />Dear Mr Douchane: <br />On June 12, 1992, the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division <br />conditionally approved the technical revision application cited <br />above with the following stipulation. <br />It is understood that the addition of hydrogen peroxide as a <br />treatment for lowering the weak acid dissociable cyanide and <br />copper concentrations is a temporary solution, to be applied <br />only until the INCO SOZ/Air process is approved and installed. <br />The H2O2 system shall not be used after October 15, 1992, <br />without the express written permission from the Division. <br />The Division understands that the addition of H2OZ to the tailings <br />pond will lower the copper concentrations in the pond by <br />precipitating copper as various copper minerals in the tailings. <br />The Division understands that Battle Mountain has co~mitted to <br />analyzing for copper in the pond solutions. The Division further <br />understands that samples from the tailings ponds will be collected <br />from at least six stations, each at two different levels, according <br />to methods described in the BEI pond characterization situdy. <br />If you have any questions, please contact me. <br />Sincerely, ~, <br />i <br />H•.
