FLAG RESOURCES, INC. PAGE 4
SILT PIT -TECH NIGAL REVISION
S EPTEM9ER 19, 200fi
treatment will include using a mix of 2-4-D and Roundup° or
Curtails depending on what area is being sprayed. The exact
chemical used will be determined when spraying begins. Any
chemicals used will be applied at the manufactures suggested
rate. Spot spraying will be done in the light areas where
needed. This spraying will take place each spring until we have
the Knapweed problem under control. Additional spraying may take
place in the fall once we have assessed the success of the
control methods used in the previous spring. Total control will
not be possible because the surrounding areas, not under our
control, have no management plan and will be the seed source for
continuing infestation.
Tamarisk
As is common on the western slope of Colorado, Tamarisk are
a problem along the Colorado River. There are no control plans
on surrounding properties so total control can not be accom-
plished on the mine until the outside sources of seed are elimi-
nated.
We currently control the Tamarisk infestation by digging the
plants out and burning them. This has been our practice for a
number of years and will be continued as mining progresses thru
the mine. Awe find a Tamarisk plant it is removed using a track
hoe and piled for later burning. This is proving to be a very
effective control method as there are very few plants left in the
permit area.
