EXHIBIT .i
VEGETATION INFORMATION - AS AMENDED
The following section discusses amended areas to the existing Sunday Mine Permit (Permit
Number M 1977-285, issued September 30, 1977 and amended May 23, 1983).
Vegetation at the proposed vent hole locations is very similar to that existing at other active mines
located within the Sunday Mine Complex. Previous vegetation surveys within the Sunday Mine
Complex identified two distinct vegetative compositions for steep hillsides and valley floors.
The steep hillsides are dominated by scattered pinyon andjuniper, measuring 4 to 8 feet high.
Vegetative coverage is estimated to be 16%, consisting of the following: ]0% Pinyon-Juniper,
14% Small Sagebrush, 43% Grasses (including 60% Galleta, 39% Indian Ricegrass, and 1% Blue
Gramma), and 2l% Russian Thistle, with the remaining 12% consisting of cactus, Yucca,
Snakeweed, and other miscellaneous forbs.
Vegetation on the valley floor predominantly consists of grasses with some scattered shrubs and
Juniper. Vegetative cover is estimated to be l5% consisting of the following: 51% Russian
Thistle, 34% Grasses (including 62% Galleta, 29% Blue Gramma, and 9% Indian Ricegrass), and
4% Snakeweed, with the remaining 1 I% consisting of Big Sagebrush, Juniper, Shadscale
Saltbush, Cactus, and other miscellaneous forbs.
