EXHIBIT D
SUNDAY MINE PLAN - AS AMENDED
The following section discusses amended areas to the existing Sunday Mine Permit (Permit
Number M 1977-285, issued September 30, 1977 and amended May 23, 1983)
This Reclamation (112) Permit Amendment is for five proposed vent holes located on various
Sunday Mine claims. One vent hole is located in the southeast quarter of Section 23, two vent
holes are located in the northeast quarter of Section 24, one vent hole is located on the section
line between the northeast quarter of Section 24 and the northwest quarter of Section 19, and the
fifth vent hole is located in the northwest quarter of Section 19. These five vent holes are
anticipated to be installed between 2007 and 2010.
The approximate locations of the proposed vent holes will be in the expected areas of mine lateral
and room development as indicated on Figure C-1. The exact locations of the proposed vent
holes are dependent on the configuration of the future mine workings and future air quality in the
mine and therefore, cannot be determined at this time. When additional ventilation to the mine
workings is required, exact locations will be determined; however, it is anticipated that the
proposed locations for the five new vent holes are accurate within 200 feet. When practicable,
vent holes will be located as close as possible to existing roads, to minimize additional surface
disturbance. Proposed access roads to these vent hole locations are shown on Figure C-l.
Proposed vent holes are expected to be approximately 6 feet in diameter, similar to existing vent
holes in the area. The surface disturbance associated with proposed vent holes alone will be
minimal (approximately ~/a acre). The total surface disturbance associated with the vent hole
roads will vary based on the proximity of each vent hole to existing roads. Estimated surface
disturbance areas for all of the proposed vent hole access roads is estimated to total
approximately 3.90 acres. Vent holes will be installed as follows:
• An I l inch pilot hole will be drilled from surface into the mine workings
• A 6 foot diameter reaming bit will be pulled up to excavate the shaft from bottom to top
• A se3ction of surface casing will be set
• A ventilation fan and diffuser will be mounted at the surface.
Since the 6 foot shaft is reamed from bottom to top, the excavated rock falls down the shaft as the
reamer is pulled upward. The excavated rock is removed from the bottom of the shaft, and
therefore, no surface waste rock storage is needed at each vent location.
