Attached is a letter authorizing me to act as their agent in this process. The
owners want to get these things in line and spend their time producing and selling aggregate and
aggregate products. They have delegated this responsibility to Gary Reed who you have met. He
seems like a capable and willing man.
We toured the pit together after I had a chance to review your inspection report. Work on the
Problems/Possible Violations is in progress. We would request an extension until December 1, 1998
to detemvne the shape and size of the permit area. Mr. Reed has contacted an azea surveyor to do
this, but it is not complete at this time. When the map is complete, we will provide you with a copy
and at that time would re-examine the financial warranty, as you suggested. I believe that you are
right when you state that the $5,000 is insufficient at this time.
The map will provide a determination of the acreage to indicate if the affected azea is less than 10
acres. Boundaries will be adequately marked in the field for visual observation. The 60 days you
provided to detemvne the financial warranty looks adequate at this time. The amount determined can
be supplied by the operator on agreement with the board.
I believe the operator's intent is to also convert this permit to a 112 permit for long-term use, which
I highly support. With your help, we will get this in proper shape.
Cordially, ~ ~ /~
Lloyd V. "Buck" Barnhart
Consultant and Agent for
Hard Rock Paving &Redi-Mix, lnc.
"Your Brand of People"
