3) Further supporting the belief that no water ever issues from the slope itself is the fact that Western <br />Gravel, Inc.'s Metcalf Pit, which will be absorbed in this Amendment, has mined the slope edge of <br />the upper terrace and has created a highwall approximately 20 to 40 Feet high in the gravel. <br />Excavation below the original ground has also occurred to depths of approximately 5 feet. No water <br />has ever been seen emanating from the highwall, although the 5 feet excavation at the bottom has <br />uncovered groundwater which had to be covered up as required by the permit. See the enclosed <br />picture of the mined highwall on the next page. This provides more perspective upon the depths of <br />groundwater which are present on the upper portions of the upper terrace gravel. <br />Haldorson Sand and Gravel Mine 33 <br />
