2. General Mining Plan
The property boundary has been surveyed ott site and the permit area will be surveyed prior to any
site disturbance. Map C-2 shows the mining plan.
The permit area will be mined by first excavating soil/overburden and stockpiling the material both
in berms around the perimeter of the area as well as temporary stockpiles which will be stored on
the next phase to be mined. The topsoil berms will be vegetated with a standazd dryland seed mix to
stabilize them since they maybe in place for more than 1 yeaz, and will serve the purpose of
visually screening the operation from the roadways and nearby houses as well as create a physical
barrier to keep any waters from entering or leaving the site on the surface. This temporary mix
which wili be used to vegetate the topsoil berms as well as the temporary stockpiles which will be
described later will consist of 10 pounds per an acre of the following seed: Slender Wheatgrass,
Western Wheatgrass, and Thickspike Wheatgrass. The raw gravel material will be excavated and
loaded with a loader into a portable crusher/screen plant where various sizes of product will be
made and kept in separate stockpiles. The portable plant will operate approximately 10 hours per
day, as mining requires. The mining of the deposit will occur to the limits shown on Map C-2 and
will be mined to a slope of 2H:1 V, unless otherwise mentioned. In the reclamation, all slopes will
be backfilled to a 3H:1 V slope. The average annual production from the site will be 400,000 tons,
which may vary depending on market conditions. The processed material will be sold in three
different products, a breakdown of these products can be seen below in Table D-1.
Table D-1: Estimated Annual Production
Avera a Annual Product Distribution
roduct ons Mined Tons Sold % Reject
oad Base
oncrete
shalt 50,000
106,000
0,600 250,000
90,000
60,000 0
15
15
oral 26,600 400,000
Mining of the gravel will start in two different areas and will be scheduled such that the two
different mining stages meet up at roughly the same point in time, at which point the mining stages
Haldorson Sand and Gravel Mine
