Logan Wash Mine TR No. 4
Depending on fall weather conditions, terrace construction and transplanting on the Upper Dump
may be delayed unti12004.
Current Status
The installation ofhand-excavated pockets and seeding of the pockets was completed on the
Upper Dump during the summer of 2003. Seedling planting is approximately 10 % complete.
2.3 Research Mine Waste-Rock Slope (Area 4)
The waste-rock dump associated with the Reseazch Mine is shown as Area 4 in Exhibit F
(Attachment A). The initial Plan anticipated an area of disturbance of 5 acres, which included
the dump slope and the dump bench. The existing disturbed surface is approximately 3.5 acres
of mine dump slope and 0.8 acres of mine bench. Reclamation of the mine bench area is
discussed in Section 3.0, below.
Proposed Reclamation
OOSI proposes to reclaim the Research Mine dump slope using the same techniques described
for the Lower Dump slope in Section 2.1.
Where feasible, hand-excavated terraces will be installed on the dump slope. Terraces will be
installed where the waste rock material has a sufficient component of fine soil-like material to
support vegetation growth. The terraces will be constructed in groups so as to form vegetated
island areas. Terrace seeding of species shown in Table 1 and transplanting of plants shown in
Table 2 will be implemented on the dump slope similar to procedures discussed for the Lower
Dump.
Depending on fall weather conditions, terrace construction and transplanting on the Upper Dump
may be delayed unti12004. Reclamation of the Research Mine dump slope and bench will
involve approval from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as this surface is BLM
property. The BLM may require that the outslope below the Research Mine Portal be pulled
back or otherwise modified. OOSI will notify DMG of any significant changes to the proposed
reclamation method that may be required by the BLM.
Current Status
No reclamation has been conducted on the Research Mine Waste-Rock Slope.
Western Water & Land, Inc. 4
