Logan Wash Mine TR No. 4
1.0 Introduction
This technical revision has been prepared to present proposed changes to the original reclamation
plan (Plan) and supplement the Plan where needed. The original Plan was prepared in 1978 and
updated in 1981. Since that time, certain reclamation practices or revegetation procedures have
been replaced with more successful methods. The original Plan did not address in detail the
issues of portal sealing or plugging, shaft closure, or the removal of surface rock protection.
This technical revision describes new methods to establish "biological islands" on the slopes of
the waste-rock dumps and revegetation of the bench and road areas, and presents methods of
shafr and portal closure and removal of surface rock protection structures.
The following narrative refers to areas initially described in the original Plan (Exhibit E in mine
permit) and illustrated on Exhibit F (Attachment A) of the mine permit. Areas not discussed in
this technical revision have previously been reclaimed or do not apply to the reclamation plan.
These include Areas 5 through 12, 14 through 18, 20 and 21.
Finally, due to scheduling issues, much of the reclamation proposed in this technical revision
was implemented during the summer of 2003. At that time, the Division of Minerals and
Geology was contacted and involved in discussions concerning revisions to the reclamation plan.
In addition a site visit was conducted by DMG in September 2003. The reclamation work
performed was consistent with or considered more thorough than the original plan. This revision
states the status of reclamation for each mine area.
2.0 Waste-Rock Slopes
2.1 Lower Waste-Rock Slope (Area la)
The Lower Waste-rock Slope (Lower Dump) is located in the north tributary gully (Dry Gulch)
at the head of Logan Wash (E %, NE %4, and the W %i NW % Section 25). Exhibit F (Attachment
A) of the original reclamation plan in the mine permit shows Area la to include both, the upper
dump below Area 2, the Upper Bench, and the area northwest and below Area 3, the Lower
Bench. In addition, Exhibit F shows the potential future footprint of this dump extending to the
west side of Dry Gulch; an approximate area of 30 acres. However, this portion of the dump was
never constructed. Amore accurate depiction of the existing lower dump is represented by the
lower portion of Area 1 a, that is, the area directly west and southwest of the Lower Bench (Area
3, see Attachment A). The sloped face of the existing the Lower Waste-Rock Slope (Lower
Dump) is approximately 7 acres in size. This section of the Technical Revision describes
reclamation activities for the Lower Dump, the area immediately west of the Lower Bench (Area
3).
Proposed Reclamation
OOSI began reclamation of the lower dump during the summer of 2003. Reclamation of this
feature presents several challenges including its very steep (35 to 38 degree) slope, rocky
Western Water 8 Land, Inc.
