Net Water Loss Study
Hogue Pit
2of2
Post- mining conditions were based on the drawing submitted as Figure 5. A total of 36.27
acres of surface water, 1.30 acres of shoreline and 1.31 acres of roadway are included in the
post- reclamation water use calculations, for a total of 38.88 acres.
RESULTS
Post- reclamation conditions will produce a net water loss of an estimated 20.07 acre-
feet per annum (Figure 6). This is equivalent to 13.2 acres of irrigated pasture hay. It is
also only 0.006 percent of the average annual yield of the Yampa River, as measured at
the USGS Gage No. 09239500 in Steamboat Springs. When compared to the average
annual yield of the Yampa River near Yampa, it is only 0.0025 percent of the average
yield of the river.
CONCLUSIONS
Final reclamation of the Hogue Pit will result in a small net water loss. This is calculated
at 20.07 acre-feet per year. This is less the 3/10ths of one percent of the total annual
yield of the Yampa River in Routt County.
Respectrully submitted,
WATER RESOURCE CONSULTANTS, LLC
...~~~
pOp REGigrEl
..
