RE~E@~'~®
Exhibit C JAN 2 6 2005
Mining PlanGivision of Minerals and GeolagY
(a) Mining operations initially began in 1981 and have continued since. The mining duration of the
mining operation is indefinite.
(b) As the quarry operation proceeds, top-soiUoverburden will be replaced on non-productive sandstone
azeas, The overburden is spread over the surface by a front-end loader for moss-rock, or put in a
rubble pile. Because the area is very difficult to seed (See Exhibit B), to the extent possible,
seeding will occur in these areas when they will no longer be disturbed.
(c) Soils aze shallow to bedrock. Therefore, very little waste rock or overburden, if any, to be removed
to reach the deposit. Almost all of the material is removed and taken to the stone yard to be cut.
(d) The thickness of the deposit is unknown, however, the slope of the reclaimed walls will be 2:1 or
less. The solid vertical rock walls will not exceed a height of ? feet
(e) The main access road to the quarry is a public road -Stone Canyon Road. There are no maintenance
buildings, shops or processing plants at the site.
(f) The total area of the requested increased quarry permit area is 6.9 acres. With the existing 3 acres,
the total area to be quarried is 9.9 acres.
(g) No new roads will be constructed.
(h) No water is used in conjunction with the operation.
(i) No ground water has been encountered in the current operation.
(j) The owners will comply with applicable Colorado water laws and regulations governing injury to
existing water rights, if any, when they become known.
(k) No refuse and acid or toxic producing materials aze exposed during mining.
(1) The mining operation will proceed in the same manner as it has since 1981. All necessary
precautions will be taken to prevent off-site damage, minimize disturbance to hydrologic balance,
and provide for a stable configuration of the reclaimed azea.
(m) The sandstone is pried from its natural stable by manual methods. It is then separated by quality
and size, stacked on pallets and loaded onto trucks and taken to a stone yazd off the job site, where
it is cut.
(n) The primary commodity mined is sandstone to be used as flagstone or building materials. A
secondary commodity is moss rock which will be used as decorative building materials.
(o) No incidental products aze expected to be mined by the proposed operation.
(p) No explosives will be used in the operation. All stone is extracted using hand tools such as bars,
picks and shovels.
