Mr. Goemmer
July 22, 1994
Page -3-
3. If ponds a:re a part of the reclamation plan, outline the
final shore configuration of the ponds and shallow areas if
the future land use is for wildlife;
Reclamation Plan Ma~Con't
State the average thickness of replaced overburden; and,
5. State the ,sverage thickness of replaced topsoil.
As you know, at your April 27, 1994 hearing, the Board asked
the.Division the proper amount of reclamation financial
warranty to rec~:lire for your operation. The Division informed
the Board that it would be appropriate to wait until the
permit is amended before the bond amount is determined. It is
clear that you intend to permit 9.9 acres. Your permit limits
you to a working (during extraction) vertical face not to
exceed 10 feet in height with immediate sloping to a grade not
to exceed 3H:1V. Therefore, only topsoil replacement and
revegetation ar•e included in your bond calculation. In
accordance with Board approved reclamation cost estimates,
topsoil replacement costs are estimated at $612.58 and
revegetation at $500.00 per acre. Your reclamation cost
estimate is 9.9 acres x $1,112.58 per acre or $11,014.54.
Please send a replacement financial warranty in the amount of
$11,000.00 or $6,000.00 of additional financial warranty to
supplement your present $5,000.00 bond. Provide the full
amount of the bond within 60 days of the date of this letter.
Provide proof of your public notice of the amendment
application.
Please call if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Lar~Oehler
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc.
