I PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.1 GENERAL <br />A. Abandon existing groundwater observation wells according to <br />Rule 16, Standards for Plugging, Sealing, and Abandoning, and <br />Boreholes, State of Colorado, Office of the State Engineer. <br />Rule 16 is attached to this Section. <br />B. Existing groundwater observation wells shall be abandoned <br />before performing any clearing, excavation, or earthwork <br />within 200 feet of the well. <br />C. Existing groundwater observation well abandonment shall be <br />performed as follows: <br />1. Remove the surface casing, concrete surface seal, and <br />well pipe(s) from the boring. <br />2. Backfill the well from the bottom of the well to the <br />existing ground surface with cement-bentonite. Grout <br />shall be placed using tremmie methods. <br />3. Where subsequent required excavation will extend for <br />entire depth of well casing, remove the entire well <br />casing in lieu of backfilling the well. <br />D. Complete and submit well abandonment report to SEO within 14 <br />days after abandoning each well. Submit copy of each report <br />to ENGINEER. <br />E.
