1
~< A 5 C I
' REPORT ON EVALUATION OF CYANIDE CHEMISTRY IN TAILINGS SAMPLES:
SAN LUIS PROJECT, MAY 1992
1
1. PREAMBLE
~' At the request of Battle Mountain Resources Company (BMRC1, ASCI has
' undertaken a review of water quality, but specifically the cyanide data, from a series
of four samples collected on May 1 1 , 1992 at various points in the tailings system
at the San Luis Project in Colorado. In particular, ASCI has focussed tlhe review on:
" evaluating the accuracy or otherwise of the cyanide analyses, particularly
"free" and WAD cyanide analyses in this data set;
' establishing the cyanide chemistry of the tailings system, as of May 1 1 ,
1992; and
" evaluating the performance of the Cytox process which is used to remove
' "free" cyanide from the tailings stream.
It is important to note that this evaluation and the comments made on cyanide
' analysis apply specifically to the data set being considered here and are not
necessity applicable elsewhere.
1

'J

~1
1
1
