~~ A s c I
-4snv:..u an~c~sswnort
s.
DATA EVALUATION: CYTOX PROCESS
' The Cytox process is designed to reduce the free cyanide levels in the tailings prior
to discharge to the tailings facility. Cytox, a zinc/iron sulphate, reacts with the free
cyanide to produce non-reactive, metallo cyanide complexes.
Pre-detox (pre-Cytox) levels of free cyanide from sample M1 are between 184 and
188 mg/L. Post-detox levels of free cyanide are calculated to be a theoretical
maximum of 32 mglL in the lower pondlcollection pond and more realistically a
maximum value in the range of 15 mg/L to 22 mg/L.
' Accordingly, the Cytox addition is apparently successful in reducing the free cyanide
to 8°~ to 1 7% of the level in the original tailings slurry.
1
1
i
1
1
i
10
