P.O. Box 1
Buena Vlsta~ CO 81211
6. The function of the depression is to allow winter release waters to infiltrate into
the ground before reaching the irrigated fazmland. Expanding the infiltration azea
within the BLM Lands will prevent future damage to the crops. The Sediment
accumulation will be minimal. The reservoir currently receives most if not all
sediments. The water is released in the winter months only for a distance of
approximately 600ft. Waters aze released in two directions which will ensure a
long life of the depression azea. We will commit to removing sediments should a
problem arise. Sediments would be spread over the fields iri the event that they
need removed.
7. We will follow the recommendations by the Division of Natural Resources. The
rate of seeding of the disturbed azeas will range from 15 - 20 pounds ofpure live
seed per acre. We will drill seed the areas for reclamation. No mulch or fertilizer
will be used.
8. Areas that aze not planted in alfalfa or existing access ways within the existing
M2001-035 permit azea will be included for reclamation with the proposed seed
mixture. The rock crop azeas will be included to the extent possible.
9. We will follow the Divisions recommendations for the removal of the Crested
wheatgrass and Annual rye from the seed mixture. The seed mix
recommendations will be altered to comply with the Division findings. Sideoats
Grama @15% and Indian Ricegrass@15% will replace the excluded seeds.
10. A weed management plan is prepazed in the event that weeds infest the mine site.
Larry Walker the local weed management director and I met on site to discuss
potential problem areas. No azeas aze of concern at this time. We will monitor
the site for any noxious weeds that may try to establish. Please find attached the
weed management plan prepared for the Trout Creek Pit.
11. No groundwater will be exposed during or after mining. The Trout Creek Pit
operations have not encountered groundwater at depths of 18ft. The BLM
expansion depths will not exceed 18feet. Stormwaters infiltrate into the ground, if
waters cannot percolate into the ground within 72 hours the water will be released
