Everist, Inc., Fort Lupton Sand and Gravel Mine, DMG #M-1999-120;
Second Adequacy Response Letter
Dear Ms. Pickford:
Thank you, and thanks to Mr. Carl Mount for taking the time to meet with Dennis Fields, Jim
Sittner, and Lynn Mayer of L. G. Everist, Inc., Maureen Jacoby of Banks and Gesso, LLC, and
Dave Mehan of Wright Water Engineers, Inc., regarding the Second Adequacy Review. It was
great to talk through the Adequacy and simply clarify some issues, and get a better
understanding of other issues so that we can fully address the Division's remaining concerns.
This response was prepared with input from WWE and Banks and Gesso.
Exhibit E -Reclamation Plan
1. Mulch information required for calculation of bond amount
L. G. Everist, Inc. (LGE) commits to using 2 tons per acre of weed-free straw as mulch to assist
in seeding and reclamation throughout the site, as is necessary. Further, the straw mulch will
be crimped to ensure it will stay in place to protect the seeding and help promote rapid and
sustainable re-vegetation.
2. Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Comments
We believe that all the NRCS comments have been addressed, and nothing more needs to be
added. Just to confirm, we agree with the Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) and
NRCS that "effective weed management must be implemented on site." Please note that we do
have a Weed Control Plan which commits that, "Noxious Weeds will be managed in accordance
with the Colorado Noxious Weed Management Act and Chapter 15, Article I of the Weld County
Code." (See Exhibit E, and Attachment A of the amendment application.)
LM/FL-Resp2ndAdegRev-dmgKP-012105.doc
