To put the water quality analysis results provided at your request in perspective, the
following summarizes the timing and sites sampled:
We normally do surface water sampling on a monthly basis. Bryan Watterson had completed
his monthly surface water sampling on September 6th, five days before the Pond E coal
fines discharge was discovered. The lab analysis results package identified as ACZ
Project ID L58718 (28 pages) provides the analysis results for the 09/06/06 sampling for
the following sample sites (as summarized on page 27 of 28);
Site 8 - Foidel Creek between the overpass and the RCR33 and RR crossing
Site 900 - Foidel Creek before the Middle Creek Shop
Site 29 - Middle Creek across from the Lieske Ranch
Site 27A - Fish Creek above confluence with Trout Creek (NW of Fish Creek
Tipple)
Site 305 - Fish Creek above confluence with Trout Creek (NW of Fish Creek
Tipple)
Site 62 - Fish Creek at Fish Creek Tipple
Site 305 - Fish Creek between Fish Creek Tipple and Orten Ranch
Site 69 - Trout Creek below confluence with Fish Creek (N of Orten Ranch)
Site 1005 - Trout Creek near headgate off of RCR179
All sampling sites are shown and designated on Map 13A (Figure 2) in Volume
5 of the PAP
Following discovery of the coal fines discharge, we sampled the discharge and several
downstream sites the next day (September 12th - Analysis results package identified as AC2
Project ID 58816 (20 pages)) and on a weekly basis thereafter (September 19th and 26th)
for the following sample sites (as summarized on page 19 of ZO);
Site 85 - Pond E discharge
Site 900 - Foidel Creek before the Middle Creek Shop
Site 29 - Middle Creek across from the Lieske Ranch
Site 69 - Trout Creek below confluence with Fish Creek (N of Orten Ranch)
Site 1005 - Trout Creek near headgate off of RCR179
Site 800 - Jones well (alluvial well on Trout Creek downstream from point
1005)
