SHELTON, Director <br />April 28, 1987 ~~,~~ <br />Mr. Joseph Blais ~~/~' <br />CF & I Steel ~j <br />Box 316 ~ / Q,~1~ <br />Pueblo, Colorado 81002 / ~ q~ <br />Re: File Numbe s M-77-376 - anon Dolomite Quarry and <br />M-77-377 - ry <br />Dear Mr. Blais: <br />'L~ <br /> <br />~~ <br />On April 22, 1987, the Mined Land Reclamation Board conducted a formal public <br />hearing for consideration of Notice of Violation, Cease and Desist Order, <br />civil penalties and corrective action for failure to maintain financial <br />warranty in good standing on each of the above referenced mining permits. <br />Based on evidence provided by CFBI Steel, that the Canon Dolomite Quarry has <br />been under temporary cessation since 1983 and all mining activates have <br />ceased, the Mined Land Reclamation Board ordered that CF&I Steel provide the <br />Division with a written stipulation that CF&I Steel will not go out of <br />temporary cessation without giving a 30-day advance notice to the Board with a <br />description of what the planned activities are going to be so tfiat the staff <br />can determine what if any additional bonding needs to be submitted. If this <br />commitment is submitted in writing prior to the May Board Meetinq, the <br />enforcement actions will be terminated. If this is not received prior to the <br />May Board Meeting, this entire enforcement action will be re-opened at the May <br />Board Meeting. <br />As to File Number M-77-377, the Monarch Ouarry, the Board found a violation <br />for failure to maintain financial warranty in good standing, issued a Cease <br />and Desist Order with corrective actions and assessed a civil penalty.
