Sign up sheet sent around. Introductions were made.
2. Bryan Kohlenberg (UDFCD) recapped that last week he had met with Ken McIntosh
(McIntosh Farms), Rick Anderson (Adams County), and John Hickman (Mobile/Lafarge)
to discuss Alternative 3. Based on the input from the meeting, he instructed ICON to
investigate another alternative, Alternative 3a, which was a modification [o Alternative 3.
Alternative 3a proposed to dischazge the Bull Seep into the Bull Seep Slough on
McIntosh's Property.
3. Alternative 3 was presented on new project mapping. This altemative included the
installation of the South Platte River Grade Control, Bull Seep Slough Drop with Bank
Stabilization adjacent to the Hazeltine Pit. This alternative still included filling the
northwest comer of the Howe-Haller Pit to re-grade the Bull Seep entirely on Denver
Water/Lafazge property. Changes to this altemative from the last meeting involved only
filling the existing Bull Seep Slough enough to create a minimum 100-ft setback from the
South Platte River.
4. Craig Jacobson (ICON) explained the concepts associated with Alternative 3a, and
explained how they differed from Altemative 3Alternative 3a was similar to Alternative
3, with the exception that the Bull Seep and Bull Seep Slough confluence was moved
back adjacent to Ken McIntosh's property in order to avoid the modifications to the
Howe-Haller Pi[. A second alignment, labeled as "Bull Seep Alternate Alignment" was
shown on both alternative maps to depict an alignment closer in location to the one
described in the Reclamation Plan easement.
5. Scott Franklin (US-Army Corps of Engineers) asked about groundwater studies for the
area, specifically pertaining to whether or not the Bull Seep fed irrigation water to the
local trees prior to May 5'h and if many of the trees appeazed to be dying. Matt Ursetta
(ICON) stated that we have not seen any groundwater studies and some trees appeared to
be dying close to the proposed confluence with Bull Seep and First Creek. No formal
assessment of the trees has been completed at this time.
6. Bryan mentioned that Lafarge, Denver Water, and Adams County decide where and how
to relocate Bull Seep on the Howe-Haller/Conservation Easement property since the
UDFCD would not be contributing to that phase of the project. At a minimum the Bull
Seep should be moved to its reclamation plan alignment. He also pointed out several
benefits of moving the Bull Seep further east including less tree removal, better
groundwater teed to cottonwood trees within the conservation easement, easier
C:\W INDOW S\TEMP\9-1) Meeting Etlil s.tloc
