Mr. Bruce Humphries
February 21, 1991
Page 2
the Marshall Pit Reclamation Area and not be deposited in the Deepe Pit
reclamation area as originally proposed in the Deepe Farm Permit is
approximately 108,000 cubic yards (165,000 cy- 57,000 cy). The total volume of
slurry materials being deposited from Deepe Pit mining on the Deepe Pit site
in the approved plan was estimated to be 387,000 cubic yards. It is our opinion
that the 108,000 cubic yards which will no longer be deposited on the Deepe
Pit site but which would instead be deposited on the Marshall Pit site will not
have a significant impact on the reclamation planning for the Deepe Pit.
Enclosed is a copy of the currently approved reclamation plan for Deepe Pit.
On this approved drawing we denoted the area where the Deepe Pit slurry
materials that are now going to be deposited at Marshall Pit were to be placed
originally. Final grades on the portion of the Deepe Pit site to be covered by
this deposition will now be on average approximately 4 feet lower than the
originally approved plan.
Based on our previous discussions with Mr. Dan Hernandez, it is our
understanding that this change is minor enough on the Deepe Pit site that
complete revision of the cut and fill calculations and final grade reclamation
plan grade mapping will not be required by the MLRB as part of this requested
Technical Revision.
Attached please find letters from representatives of the permitees of the
referenced permits authorizing Scott, Cox & Associates, Inc. to file this request
for technical revisions.
If you have any questions concerning this permit, or processing this permit,
please call me as soon as possible.
Sincerely yours,
SCOTT, COX & ASSOCIATES, INC.
BY
William H.
