32
1 legislature to inspect approximately 13 percent o:
2 the mines in this state each year, which me ans that
3 87 percent o f them don't get inspected and that's a
4 headache for us too. And I hope that some of you
5 will talk to some of your legislators about the
6 benefits tha t you as citizens would receive from
7 having this staff able to do more frequent
e inspections. Mr. Banta.
9 MR. BANTA: I need to clarify a point
l0 here. The inspection and alleged violations, one of
11 them was -- the inspection was conducted as a result
12 of complaint filed by Mr. Covert; that was the
13 violation that's in Williams Canyon with ro:k fall.
14 So I need to make that clear. The other one was a
15 follow-up on the situation with the buttresses of the
16 haul road, there's two points there. Mr. N;sgel also
17 has the '_^formation presented by Mr. Covert to the
18 staff.
19 MR. EVANS: I think the furt:zer
20 clarification, perhaps, to inquiry to the s~:aff, my
21 tnderstanding is that Mr. Nagel's complaint was
22 addressed in October of 1988 with staff and on
23 February 17, 1989, the staff had indicated :.ts
24 resolution of that complaint, the one that Mr. Nagel
25 has spoken of.
MIDyrTm aropRTING SSRVICr
(303) 424-2217
