Based on this letter the BLM is requiring Mining & Minerals
II, Ltd. to begin reclamation activities immediately. This is to include "removal of all
buildings, barrels, debris and trash, all unnecessary equipment, and completing all
recontouring and revegetation work of those parts not deemed necessary for your future
continuing operating plans." In addition, Mining & Minerals II, Ltd. is to submit a plan
for completing this work.
Mining& Minerals II, Ltd. assumes and understands their responsibility for reclamation of
the Joker Mine as required by the BLM under 43 CFR 3809 with the purchase of the mine
from Marathon Gold Corporation. With this knowledge, we are formally requesting that
Mining & Minerals II, Ltd. be allowed to delay reclamation of the mill and laboratory
buildings until such time as it is appropriate. This request is being made based on potential
future operations following completion of pilot-scale testing. Removal of the buildings at
this time may be premature if the pilot-scale testing is successful. Additional expansions
of the mine following successful pilot-scale testing may include processing ore at the mine
site. Allowing the buildings to remain during the pilot-scale testing will facilitate possible
future expansion without disturbing areas previously reclaimed.
We are enclosing a plan to remove the debris and equipment that will not be used for
future expansion. This will include removal of all trash and debris, barrels, and
unnecessary equipment. In addition, Mining & Minerals II, Ltd. will initiate the sale and
removal of unnecessary equipment in the mill building.
